As an owner, you receive a share of the prize money awarded to horses finishing in the race.
Prize money distribution
Earnings are distributed among horses finishing from 1st to 5th place (some races also include 6th and 7th prizes):
- 1st place: 50%
- 2nd place: 20%
- 3rd place: 15%
- 4th place: 10%
- 5th place: 5%
Breakdown among stakeholders
Prize money is then shared between the different participants involved in the race:
- Owner: 75% (which may include a share for stable staff)
- Trainer: 14% (including a portion for stable staff)
- Jockey: 8.5% (of which 1.5% goes to the jockeys’ compensation fund)
- Social charges: 2.5%
These earnings allow you to financially reward your involvement as an owner, while also recognising the contribution of all professionals involved in preparing and running your horse.
